According to Pitchbook, in 2016 alone over $20 billion was invested in 745 US venture deals in which CVC participated.  CVC is not a new phenomenon. Biotech Execs Reap Rewards as VC Money Pours In

HEALTH CARE INC – The infusion of venture capital into the biotech industry in recent years has given some biotech CEOs and other executives a pay boost. A report on biotech executive pay, based on pay data from J. Thelander Consulting, was released Friday by Seattle-based PitchBook, a firm that tracks information about VC funding. According to PitchBook, 549 U.S. biotech companies have raised a total of $10.6 billion since Jan. 1, 2013.
