Gender VC Compensation Data: The Pay Gap is Closing Among Junior Investors

In honor of women’s history month, we dug into the investment firm dataset to analyze how representation of female VC investors has changed over the last four years and what progress has been made in closing the pay gap between men and women in venture.  Here’s what we found:  When looking at senior managing directors (IP 2), women earn 12% carried interest compared to 15% earned by their male peers at the median. In September 2022, Fortune used Thelander data to look at CEO compensation by financing and valuation. With the challenging fundraising environment, private companies staying private longer and shifting valuations, we wanted to see how the data has changed. Chart 1 looks at CEO median total cash year-over-year by total financing. How Much are Salaries Increasing for CVC Units in 2023?

In this month’s Thelander Digest, we explore how salaries are changing in CVC units. By examining the graph below, we find that 4% more of individuals at CVC units receive a salary increase for 2023 compared to last year. Is AUM a factor in whether or not an individual received a salary increase? The data says yes.
