Last month, we looked at a preview of salary increase data. This month, we give you an exclusive look at the bonus section, and examine how bonuses are looking for 2024. To review, a cash bonus is the preferred mechanism for rewarding individual performance, and is meant to be a short-term/annual incentive. With the current talent market being highly competitive for key skill sets and experience, as well as vesting times for carried interest increasing, bonuses can be a valuable financial tool. For our November Digest, we’re looking at committed capital and if you have to commit capital for your carried interest. Welcome to September’s Thelander Digest! A few years ago, we added new questions to the Thelander-PitchBook Investment Firm Compensation Survey to collect data on carry dollars at work. Using this data, we’ll be looking at insights on carry dollars at work and how it has changed since 2021. What is carry dollars at work? It’s defined as the amount of carry you will receive if your funds achieve a 2x gross multiple funds.
